Dear Sir/Madam

I write with regards to the future Capital of Culture celebrations in 2008.
My colleague and I are both from and live in Liverpool. We are currently studying art and media and we have developed an idea that we feel would benefit your future celebrations in the city.

To quote Sir Jeremy Isaacs, head of the panel of judges who eventually chose Liverpool for the Capital of Culture 2008, “Liverpool’s stunning dockside developments, city centre and strong visual arts had boosted its bid.” (sic)

The BBC reported on Wednesday 4 June 2003 that the title is expected to attract more tourists, increase investment and create jobs, as well as boost the profile of the winning city.
Before Glasgow won the title of European City of Culture in 1983 the number of visitors was only in the tens of thousands. However, it now currently attracts four million tourists a year.

We feel that our idea will not only help to make the city a more attractive place to live but will draw a substantial number of tourists to this great city. The idea is to produce a number of visual art projects in and around the city centre that will celebrate Liverpool’s cultural past which in turn, will increase the number of tourist to the city.

We would appreciate the opportunity to meet with The Capital of Culture Team in order to explain our idea with you further. Would it be possible to meet your team or a representative from your team to enable us to provide you with a short presentation of our project?

Yours faithfully

Mr Gregory Brennan
